Awareness campaigns

Our commitment to skin health

At Almirall, we are dedicated to improving skin health through science, innovation, and genuine care for people. As a company with a strong heritage in dermatology, we focus not only on treating skin conditions, but also on understanding the emotional and social impact they can have.

We care for people

Living with a visible skin disease can affect confidence, relationships, and everyday life, and we recognize that effective care must address the person as a whole.

Our work is driven by this belief: by combining medical expertise with empathy, we aim to support patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals at every step of their journey.

Why our awareness campaigns matter

Many skin conditions, such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, or actinic keratosis, are far more than a surface problem. They can be painful, persistent, and often misunderstood. That is why our awareness campaigns are such an important part of what we do.

Through these initiatives, we share clear, evidence-based information, challenge misconceptions, and encourage people to seek timely medical advice

We collaborate closely with dermatologists, nurses, patient organizations, and advocacy groups to ensure our messages are trustworthy, inclusive and firmly grounded in real patient stories. By raising awareness, we help to reduce stigma, promote early diagnosis, and empower individuals to speak openly about their skin health.

Facing Atopic Dermatitis: The Path to Feeling Lighter (2025)

Atopic Dermatitis

This year, we joined forces with the EFA, GlobalSkin, and the AADA to mark World Atopic Dermatitis Day with a shared purpose: to raise awareness and improve access to care for the millions of people living with atopic dermatitis. Together, we launched “Facing Atopic Dermatitis: The Path to Feeling Lighter,” a campaign built around the real experiences of patients who bravely shared their stories.

For the first time, this collective effort came to life through a unified omnichannel activation across our key markets—bringing a consistent, resonant message of visibility, hope, and support to the global atopic dermatitis community.

The Deeper Truth Behind Psoriasis

Psoriasis

We proudly joined the IFPA in shining a light on the real impact of psoriasis—one that goes far beyond the skin. Psoriasis often sets off a “domino effect,” influencing not only a person’s physical health but also their emotional wellbeing, relationships, and daily life.

With “The Deeper Truth Behind Psoriasis,” we aim to bring these hidden layers to the surface. The campaign raises awareness of psoriasis and its connected comorbidities, encouraging deeper conversations and empowering people living with the condition to engage openly with their healthcare providers.

Hats on for AK challenge - 2025

Actinic Keratosis

We partnered with BioFrontera for the global Hats On Challenge, a social media initiative raising awareness and support for actinic keratosis (AK). The campaign invited people to wear a hat and share a photo or video using #HatsOnForAK and #GlobalAKDay to highlight sun protection, early signs of AK, and the importance of timely treatment.

By joining this effort ahead of Global AK Awareness Day, we helped amplify prevention messages and support the work of Euromelanoma and The Skin Cancer Foundation in promoting better skin health.

AK Global Day 2023

Actinic Keratosis

Almirall took the opportunity to create an awareness campaign on the occasion of AK Global Day to highlight the importance of early detection.

Actinic keratosis is a very common and potentially precancerous skin condition caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

It is very important to check any lesions or changes in the skin in order to get effective treatment, so a campaign has been developed to encourage people to share the information with their loved ones or to make an appointment for a check-up themselves.

Atopic Dermatitis

In 2021 we carried out a campaign in support of people living with multiple sclerosis. This chronic autoimmune degenerative disease affects the central nervous system and occurs when myelin is destroyed, interfering with communication between the brain and other parts of the body.

The campaign, entitled "Hoy sí me puedo levantar" (Today I can stand up), seeks to raise awareness of this health problem.

Obtained the temporary and exceptional rights to Mecano's hit song "Hoy no me puedo levantar", released in 1981. This song was completely transformed into an anthem for people suffering from multiple sclerosis, creating their own version called "Hoy sí me puedo levantar" performed by Auba Estela Murillo, a Spanish singer who made public that she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 18.

Through powerful messages such as "Today I can get up, I win the game, I am much more" or "Today I am going to get up, nothing can stop me", this version is uplifting and at the same time sends a relatable and realistic message to people suffering from this disease since they face an enormous impact on their quality of life and can suffer from both physical and cognitive disabilities.

Nina In Psoriasis

Psoriasis

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Spanish Association "Acción Psoriasis" and with the support of the IFPA, we presented a film that portrays the challenges and mental health burdens faced by people who live with psoriasis.

With an incredible cast, "Nina" tells the story of a fashion designer with a secret that will expose her from darkness to light: a journey of profound self-discovery, full of learnings that highlight the impact that psoriasis has on the lives of those who suffer from it and that goes far beyond skin lesions.

With this film we reaffirmed our commitment to improve the lives of patients, while raising awareness among the general public with big campaigns that make visible what is not obvious.

World Psoriasis Day 2022

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is not only a skin disease that causes physical discomfort, but it also has a huge impact on the mental and emotional health of those who suffer from it. More than a quarter of people living with psoriasis show signs of depression and a large percentage also show signs of various anxiety disorders that in addition to the stigma, negative reactions and isolation from society, end up being an almost impossible burden to bear.

In 2022 we joined IFPA's efforts and followed our campaign "Shedding Light on Psoriasis" while joining the global campaign "United we tackle Mental Health and Mental Wellbeing" to raise public awareness about the mental and emotional burden of this disease, with special emphasis on the need to work together to create actions with great impact for people.

Through artwork that captures the personal journey of the IFPA's ambassadors, we integrated in this campaign the idea of going from light to dark when barriers start to break down and talking openly not only about the disease, but also about the collateral conditions that come with it.

#SheddingLightOnPsoriasis (2021)

Psoriasis

As psoriasis is one of the most common dermatological diseases, with the most patients worldwide, we joined the efforts made by the IFPA (International Federation of Psoriasis Associations) to commemorate the global event "World Psoriasis Day"

Through #SheddingLightOnPsoriasis, we called on people to join IFPA's petition demanding equal access to treatment and a multidisciplinary approach, as well as a change in the medical paradigm to stop stigmatizing psoriasis patients, by signing on the Federation’s website.

We also used this platform to give visibility to the individual stories of people living with psoriasis, and to give a voice to the internal efforts and their unique way of changing the world.
